2023-12-14 – Watson Mill Bridge State Park

The audio for today’s podcast is cut off. Like an idiot I didn’t bring extra batteries for my recorder and the battery died 17 minutes in. So, unfortunately, you won’t be subjected to my incessant prattle. I decided to post what I have anyway. See the pics and watch the YouTube video below for more of my hike.

Watson Mill Bridge is the longest covered bridge in the State of Georgia. When I saw pictures of it on Alltrails and found it was less than 90 minutes from my house I knew I had to go out there and check it out. Godfrey and I took that opportunity to get in a little over 3 miles of hiking as well.

The trails at Watson Mill Bridge State Park are rated easy. But that doesn’t mean they’re not enjoyable. On the Watson Mill Bridge State Park Loop there are little signs with information about the plant and animal life in the area as well as some info on wildfires. There are benches along the trail for people to sit and admire this dense pine forest.

When we started out it was about 40 degrees and was in the mid-40s by the time we were done. On a beautiful sunny fall day there was no need for a jacket. We hiked two trails, the State Park Loop and Watson Mill Ridge Loop. Godfrey got some swimming in and we took some nice pics by the bridge.
