Canada Creek Trail – Suches, GA.

Godfrey and I hiked the Canada Creek Trail in North Georgia on a sunny, 70°F late spring day. This easy trail was perfect for Godfrey with his arthritic hips.

We parked the Jeep near a Forest Service road, slightly washed out from recent rains. The creeks were running strong, and Godfrey was happy as a clam, splashing about and getting dirty. The trail follows Canada Creek, with beautiful views of rushing water and big pines.

The path was well-worn but a bit overgrown with grass and plants. Spiderwebs hit my face, so I was likely the first hiker that day. Fallen trees blocked parts of the trail, forcing us to detour. A small water crossing was tricky—I tried to use a log as a bridge it but got wet anyway. Godfrey, of course, sat in the mud.

We’d hiked here before but got stopped by private property signs. This time, the chain was gone, so we went farther. The AllTrails app wasn’t accurate, and the trail petered out. With steep terrain ahead, I didn’t push Godfrey. We tried a side path to the creek for waterfall views, but it was too steep for him. The creek was fantastic, though, and worth it.

We turned back, passing through tall grass and crossing the creek again. This time I kept my feet mostly dry. This hike’s scenic, with creeks and trees, but the falls are tough to reach without scrambling.

Canada Creek Trail is a short, scenic hike, great for a quick North Georgia outing. Expect some overgrown spots and obstacles. Able-bodied hikers should try for the waterfalls as they are beautiful. Check thecasualhike.com for more info. Go take a hike!
